WORDSPEAK Tigertail's teen spoken word project Emanuelee "Outspoken" Bean, the nationally-respected performance poet, playwright and educator, returns to Miami for a 2nd year for a week-long WordSpeak residency. WordSpeak includes workshops, slams and performances. Houston-based Bean is a Texas Poet Laureate nominee and ranked 9th in the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2013. After last year's residency, he returned to Miami to coach Tigertail's WordSpeak team and accompanied them to Washington, D.C. for their participation in the annual Brave New Voices teen spoken word competition in July. Bean will perform on two evenings for the general public. On Friday, February 10, at 8PM he will perform a reading of his poetry at The Betsy. On Saturday, February 11, at 5PM, he will perform his short play Converse: with Outspoken Bean at the Miami Beach Cinematheque. These events are FREE and open to all. Bean will again conduct workshops in area high schools during his residency. These workshops will culminate in a teen slam at Miami Beach Botanical Garden. The slam will aid in the selection of Tigertail's 2017 WordSpeak team.
