Tigertail Bold Adventures Season 2010-2011

TIGERTAIL PRESENTS

AN EVENING WITH BILL FRISELL

Eclectic Virtuoso Guitarist and his trio play
Beautiful Dreamers

"In the most understated way possible, Beautiful Dreamers' special intimacy, quiet joy and constant sound of surprise represent a shift in Frisell's music. Moving away from project specificity and, instead, towards a consolidation of the guitarist's multifaceted interests, it's a beautiful way, indeed, to kick-start this relationship with a new label."
— John Kelman, All About Jazz

Beautiful Dreamers is Bill Frisell's first album on the Savoy Jazz label after 20 years of recording with Nonesuch. With Frisell (guitar), Eyvind Kang (viola) and drummer Rudy Royston (drummer), the album redefines sonic beauty as much as it redefines the jazz trio.

One of the leading guitarists in jazz since the late '80s, Frisell's eclectic music touches on progressive folk, classical music, country music, noise and more. Bill Frisell has collaborated with artists as diverse as Elvis Costello, Bono, T-Bone Burnett, Paul Simon, McCoy Tyner, Ornette Coleman, Brian Eno, Ry Cooder and many more – a testament to his virtuosity as a guitarist, bandleader and composer. He is a Grammy winner and two-time nominee including a 2009 nomination for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, a 9-time Best Guitarist winner in the DOWNBEAT Critics Poll (including 2010) and three-time DOWNBEAT Readers Poll winner for Best Guitarist, and the Reigning Jazz Awards Guitarist of the Year (2008 & 2009).

First presenting him at the legendary Stephen Talkhouse on Miami Beach and the Coral Gables Congregational Church in the '90's, then at the Byron Carlyle Theater in 2007, Tigertail is proud to bring Bill Frisell to Miami for the fourth time.

"It's hard to find a more fruitful meditation on American music than in the compositions of guitarist Bill Frisell." — The New York Times
