Art with Edge Concludes

poodle riderTigertail's Art with Edge season wrapped up May 16 with a blowout fundraiser at Galerie Adler Bertin Toublanc. Yes, you could ride a 15-foot pink poodle, barter with poodle cash and enjoy terrific performances by Heather Maloney, Octavio Campos, Jesse Jackson, Amy Alvarado and Clifton Childree's performance/installation Boise Bob & His Backyard Band. Many party patrons came away with more than smiles in the form of prizes and artwork. It was a "last hurrah" for fabulous staff member Heber Siqueiros, who has now resettled in Long Beach, CA, with his partner Richard Townsend. We will miss you Heber. You are in our hearts forever.

Tigertail WordSpeak team takes on Chicago

Coach Teo Castellanos and Teen Mentor Maxis Madé have been working hard to prepare the WordSpeak team for a match against 50 teams from across the U.S. in Chicago, July 14-19, 2009 at Brave New Voices International Slam & Festival. The project book and CD come out later this summer. Says one of the teens from the 2008 team, "Some have support groups. I have Tigertail/Wordspeak and teammates who need me to contribute and continuously grow with them; more than a support group it’s a family that will forever inform the way I approach my poetry." Read the article about the team in Sunday's Miami Herald Neighbors section.
