Born in Miami, Florida, Tom Weinkle came to art early in life; art has been his passion ever since.

Tom graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design. After working for an industrial automation company in Pittsburgh, he returned to Miami and started his own design firm, Vortex Communications.

Tom has been helping local, national, and international companies succeed through design communications. His work has won many regional and national awards for creativity.

Design is really about problem solving for societal needs through creative thinking and expression. It is one of the most influential but also the least understood forces in life. Through his company, Tom has worked to raise the public's awareness of design as a means for improving the quality of life. To him, there is a natural connection between design and art, which is an act of creative expression and communication from a personal point of view. Achieving excellence in both only comes through thoughtful, disciplined work; this commitment is evident in everything Tom does.

In 2006, Tom began devoting more time to drawing and painting. Currently, he is focused on regional landscapes and portraiture created in pastel, drybrush watercolor and egg tempera. Tom accepts commissions and his work is sought after for private and corporate collections.
