Kerry Phillips refers to her work as "documentary fiction" – favoring any/every material and process to explore our ever-changing memories and perceptions. It is the inconstant nature of our remembrances, which cause our understood "realities" to likewise continuously shift and alter. Originally from Texas (as she'll be more than happy to tell you), she received a BFA from Florida International University in 2000 and an MFA in 2003 from the University of Arizona. "I for one want people to interact with my work – in some cases, I even want them to lick it! I want there to be a physical compulsion to interact with it – like when you see corduroy – you have to touch it – you are compelled to!"
