Alex Heria was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1961. He moved to Miami at age ten. Heria received a BFA in photography from FIU and his MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston in 1994. He has taught photography and graphic design for seven years at FIU, MDC and the Art Institute Miami. Currently he is an artist-in-residence at the ArtCenter/South Florida. He received a South Florida Cultural Consortium grant in 2007 and had a solo show at TBS Gallery in Madrid, Spain in 2009.
