He also received his BFA in Fine Arts and Art Education from the School of Visual Arts in 2000, where he was awarded a full tuition scholarship from the Keith Haring Foundation. His drawings are included in the Flat Files of the Drawing Center in NY; and he has been the recipient of numerous awards including an Honorable Mention from Fernando Botero's Award in 2007. Gonzalo Fuenmayor has exhibited in solo and group shows in the U.S., Colombia, as well as Europe. Recently, he participated in "Laberintos" Group Show at Galeria MUNDO in Bogota, as well as representing Colombia at the V International Biennial of Standards at Centro Cultural Tijuana, Tijuana, MX. Art installation, photography and drawing comprise Fuenmayor's presentation. Pornoramas, Fuenmayor's series of Mylar drawings, resemble quicksand. Each drawing is composed of two juxtaposed Mylar sheets that have been drawn on each side and converge together creating a multilayered landscape. The surface simultaneously deceives and reveals itself when the capricious gaze decides to caress its uneven surface as it attempts to swallow the spectator.
